A 1 MeV high-energy neutral beam injector is under developing for heating and current drive of ITER plasma in collaboration with EUDA. JADA will provide ultra-high voltage DC power supply components. Design of the 1 MV power supply, R&Ds on a HV bushing and a water choke will be presented. These results satisfy the requirements for the NBI system.

The developments of radio frequency systems for plasma heating and current drive have been continued for magnetically-confined fusion devices, such as JT-60SA, ITER. The specifications of the systems are shown. Recent progress in the electron cyclotron range of frequency system developments, especially for the JT-60SA, is summarized.

Terrorism and nuclear proliferation are the critical issues that world has currently encountered. Strengthening of nuclear security and nuclear non-proliferation is a common challenge throughout the worldwide nuclear societies, where development/improvement of the detection and measurement technologies for nuclear security and non-proliferation is one of the important measures in such a challenge. This paper discusses the current status and future needs in the area.

Tokamak DEMO reactor design concepts of Japan and Europe are presented and present status of reactor design activities in the United States is introduced in this paper. The design concept by Europe has a priority in the early realization of fusion energy while the development strategy by the United States has a priority in the economy. On the other hand, the design concept by Japan has an intermediate characteristic between both strategies.

A phosphor material such as SrBPO:Eu has been investigated for two-dimensional imaging for pulsed-neutron source. The authors found this phosphor itself shows photostimulated luminescence (PSL) by illumination of 635 nm laser light after neutron irradiation without adding any neutron sensitive materials such as Gd. The PSL intensity per neutron flux was proportional to E, where E is neutron energy. The neutron sensitivity was increased by using enriched boron instead of natural boron. The S/S ratio of this phosphor using enriched boron was better than that of a commercially available imaging plate, where S and S are gamma and neutron sensitivities, respectively.
